WILDCRAFTD & MY ASCENT PRESENT
IN COLLABORATION WITH WILDCRAFTD
A weekly morning of hiking, making art, and connecting to nature and to one another.
WHO HESTIA IS FOR
Hestia is for anyone who has been carrying something heavy — grief, trauma, or simply a season that has asked too much — and for anyone who is quietly longing for connection and belonging.
You do not need to be a hiker. You do not need to be an artist. You do not need to explain why you have come. You only need to arrive, walk gently, and let the morning do its work.
The Japanese speak of mono no aware — the tender awareness that everything passes, and that this passing is part of what makes it precious. Hestia is built on that gentleness: we gather what the trail offers, we make something beautiful from it, and we let it go.
Some come to grieve. Some come to heal. Some come simply because Saturday mornings had grown too quiet. All of them come back for the people.

“Come for the hike, the art and the fresh air. Stay for the people. And if you are carrying something heavy, let the fire hold it a while.”
THAT IS WHY WE LIGHT THE FIRE · THAT IS WHY WE COME BACK
A MORNING AT THE HEARTH
Every gathering follows the same gentle rhythm — a container that opens at seven and holds you until you are ready to return to the week.
We each light a candle. Many flames, one hearth.
Fazlin and the My Ascent team lead a gentle guided walk through the Steyn City parklands — no pace to keep, no summit to chase. Along the way we collect what the trail offers: stones, leaves, seed pods, bark, feathers — the materials of the morning's making.
We return to the hearth and settle around the fire. Tea, warmth, and unhurried conversation — or comfortable silence. Whatever you carried on the walk is welcome here, spoken or unspoken.
Chrissi of Wildcraftd leads the making: the stones, leaves and seed pods gathered on the walk become ephemeral art — made with your hands, photographed if you wish, and returned to the earth. The making is the point; the letting go is the gift.
Every member of the season takes home a hand-formed clay keepsake made with Chrissi — a small, permanent reminder of an impermanent practice.
